Kiddie artwork using Adobe Illustrator
Once a week my daughter Gabriella is given a journal art schoolwork based on a situation that is assigned by her teacher. She needs to write down the answer to the question and also make an illustration that would go with it. When I checked her journal last week I saw an entry for the question "How do you show your friends you care about them?" She answered "by giving a hug" along with a cute drawing of herself together with her friend at the park. This gave me an idea to come up with a digital illustration (using Adobe Illustrator) for this artwork. Here's the before and after artwork side by side.

How do you show your friends you care about them?
To produce this artwork I had to think about the concept, create characters, create a scene and a lot of editing. Making digital vector artwork looks a little bit complicated but they're really not, they are composed of shapes, lines and paths all arranged in different layers to create the final composition.
Here are also a few more of her journal work. I think they are conceptualized and drawn pretty well.
Who is your favorite character from the story "How the leopard got his spots"? Why?
Would you rather be an explorer or researcher? Why?
What are you going to do this weekend?
It is great to see her be really interested in creative work. She model things around her and solve problems in different ways. I plan to teach her on how to use these tools so that one day she'll be able to confidently create digital artworks and show it to her friends and classmates.
